William H Abbey, 34, of DeWitt, died June 1st, when he drowned in Lake St. Clair. A resident of DeWitt the past 10 years, he formally resided in Ionia where he was born June 24, 1951*, to Harold and Emma Abbey. Mr. Abbey was a training consultant for Educational Data Systems in Dearborn. He graduated from Ionia High School in 1969, attended Montcalm Community College, graduated from Ferris State College in 1974 and pursued graduate studies at Central Michigan University. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Emma Abbey, Ionia; a sister, Mrs. Carol Damaska; two nieces , Michelle and Laura Damaska, Stanton. He was preceded in death by his father in 1972. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ionia with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery, Stanton. Greenville Daily News, Wednesday, June 11, 1986. *Birthdate given in obit.
