7th U.S. Cavalry / Born William M. Smith in Trenton N.J. 1852, He enlisted in the U.S. 7th Cavalry in July 1872, Assigned to Company B, He was among the men detailed to pack train which accompanied Custer's Force's on June 25 1876, When the pack train reachd the Battle Field, Cpl Smith Joined the Hill top fight under Maj Marcus Reno and Capt Frederick Benteen and was wounded in the arm, he died in Philadelphia P.A. on January 4th 1921 at age 69 Subsequently cremated, his ashe's were interred in Wenonah Cemetary
