Funeral services are being planned for Col. Frank M. Kennedy (ret.), 78, of 495 N. Lake st., Aurora, of the army air corps, who was one of the first five men to volunteer for flight training when the army introduced it in 1911.
Col. Kennedy, who died Friday night in an Aurora hospital, went to Germany in 1922 to observe construction of the dirigible Los Angeles for the United States, and after the attack on Pearl Harbor supervised construction of air corps depots on the west coast. He retired in 1944.
He is survived by a daughter, Miss Betty Kennedy of Springfield, and a sister, Mrs. J. M. Mann of Hinckley, Ill. Interment will be at Arlington National cemetery.
