Services for Martha Zessin, 84, of Madison, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Madison. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Madison. The Rev. R. L. Jobman of Norfolk will officiate.
The body will lie in state 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Resseguie Funeral Home in Madison.
She died late Sunday at Countryside Home in Madison. She was the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. H. W. Fricke, born at Hooper Dec. 20, 1891. Her family moved to Madison in 1906 and she lived there the rest of her life.
On Jan. 1, 1917, she married Edward A. Zessin. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1967. He died in 1968. She was the first resident of Countryside Home and was a church organist for 50 years. She was an active member of the Lady's Aid Society and long-time member of the volunteer Fireman's auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Robert of Madison and Edward of Arvada, Colo.; three daughters, Emmelene Zessin of Madison, Mrs. Claretta Kopcho of Northridge, Calif., and Mrs. Eva Paden of Lincoln; seven granchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandchild, three brothers and one sister.
