Alberta Richardson Horne, 74, of Funston, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at Heritage Healthcare at Brownwood.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., today, Aug. 17, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ronald Barrett and Mrs. Diane Walden officiating. Interment will follow in New Bethel Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Buddy Hurst Jr., Michael Hurst, Scott Woodall Jr., Anthony Jones, Eric Giddens, Jose Murillo and Andy Gay. Honorary casketbearers will be the staff of United Hospice and Heritage Healthcare at Brownwood.

Born Dec. 19, 1935, in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Albert Richardson and Leola Pope Richardson McCord. Affectionately known as "Miss Alberta", she was a retired social worker with the Colquitt County Department of Family and Children's Services. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include three sons, Buddy Hurst and wife Sharon of Moultrie, Ray Horne Jr. and wife Michelle of Norman Park, and Gary Horne and wife Ginny of Webb City, Mo.; two daughters, Sheila Jones and husband Rayburn and Sidney Woodall and husband Scott, all of Omega; one sister, Virginia Stair of Moultrie; a special friend, Lorene Hall of Funston; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
