MRS. ELLEN PRESCOTT
Mrs. Ellen Prescott, age 78, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nettie Cosby, in Pensacola, Fla. at 9:30 p.m. Monday, January 6. Although Mrs. Prescott had been ill for several years, her death was unexpected. For the past three years she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Cosby.
Being a life-long member of the Primitive Baptist Church, funeral services were conducted from Pine Level Primitive Baptist Church, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 by Rev. Jay D. Tollison, Opp, Rev. W.W. Houseman, and Rev. E.L. Hardin, of Pensacola.
Surviving her are six daughters, Mrs. Mary Cooper, Opp; Mrs. Ada Cooper, Andalusia, RFD; Mrs. Eva Langley, Brantley; Mrs. Wille Suggs, Andalusia, RFD; Mrs. Laura Green Gates, McCullough; Mrs. Nettie Cosby, Pensacola; two sons, Mr. George Prescott, Pensacola, and Mr. Clarence Prescott, Pensacola; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Coleman, Mobile; Mrs. Della Palmore, Montgomery; Mrs. Betty Goodman, Andalusia, RFD; Mrs. Zula Palmore, Andalusia; three brothers, Mr. Tom Bray, Montgomery’ Mr. H.G. Bray, Andalusia; Mr. John Bray, Columbus, Ga.; 40 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased and were Collis Cooper, James Suggs,Joel S. Suggs, W.C. Suggs, Wright McGinty and Jack Cooper.
Music was rendered by a mixed choir and interment was made in the Pine Level Cemetery beneath a blanket of beautiful floral offerings.
