Charles was the son of Karl/Carl Zuchowski and his wife Eva Nichols. His father was born in Germany, as was his mother. Karl and Eva arrived in the USA on 12/21/1880, along with their two sons August and Michael, aboard the "Utopia." These two children were born in the area of Stangenwalde, Westpreussen, Germany.

The name "Schuchaskie" was result of a name change by his step-father, Emil Bensch.

Charles was living with Emil Bensch (step-father) and his mother, Eva (Nichols) Zuchowski-Bensch, in a census report. Emil was listed as Charles' step-father. Eva Bensch was Charles' natural mother. At the time, they were living in Leroy Twp., Wheatfield, Ingham, MI.

3 ZUCHOWSKI/SCHUCHASKIE siblings: August (9/19/1878-1/2/1952) m. Nora Nichols, 7 children; Michael (1989-?); [Self] (1884-1951); and Emma, who was born in Michigan in May 1888.

Charles married Myra-9 Louise Warner on November 10, 1909, in Lansing, Ingham, Michigan as her 2) husband.

3 SCHUCHASKIE children: Eva Charlotte, Clarabel Louise, and Rose Mary.

"Charlie was a jovial, friendly man. His farm showed the neatness which characterized the Germanic influence. One time, when Charlie was backing the farm wagon from the barn down the steep drive approach, the wagon left the drive and overturned with him and the wagon and horses all in a tangle. Charlie emerged from the fracas with both arms broken. They mended and he got on with his work.

"After his wife Myra died on July 27, 1949 in a Lansing hospital, she was buried in the Alchin cemetery. Russell L. Warner was one of the pallbearers. Later Charlie married a lady in the South named 2) Dolly (_), but when he died on June 7, 1951 at St. Augustine, FL, his body was brought back to MI and he was interred in the Alchin cemetery beside that of his first wife, Myra."
