Howard Percy Long was born with the name of Percy Howard Wright to the parents, Henry Andrews Wright and Bessie Mae Imes on 02/08/1917 at Greenridge, Allegany County, MD. According to the adoption papers filed in Claysburg, Blair County, PA, his mother Bessie Wright died on the 14th day of July 1921 and left a husband and four minor children, one of which was Percy. Henry Wright, father of said minor was unable to properly support and maintain Percy and was willing that he be adopted by Harry N. Long (Memorial #75779388) and Margaret May Long (Memorial #57249426) on November 28, 1921. At some time in his life, Percy changed his first and middle names around to Howard Percy Long. He was separated from his siblings for many years and on Dec 10, 1942 page 20, was an add that Ada Scritchfield placed in the Altoona Mirror newspaper searching for information on the whereabouts of her only brother Percy H. Wright (Sisters Seeking Percy H. Wright).

Services for Howard P. Long, 50, of 3919 5th Avenue, Altoona, Pa., who died Tuesday, were held Thursday in the Laughlin-Carn Funeral Home there. Interment was in Grandview Cemetery, Altoona. He was a son of Henry Wright, Valley Road.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Grace (Keller) Long, two daughters, both of Altoona, three sisters, two stepsisters, three stepbrothers and five grandchildren.
