He was born May 5, 1929, in Harrisonburg, and was a son of the late Herman G. and Lorraine "Pet" Steele Armentrout.
He worked in the poultry and dairy industry. He was an active member at Fellowship United Methodist Church near Harrisonburg, and served as a lay speaker, and Sunday school superintendent. He was a delegate to the Virginia United Methodist Church Conference. He was active as a Boy Scout leader, receiving district Boy Scout awards.
On Dec. 28, 1948, he married the former Creela Kline, who survives.
Also surviving are five daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Ellen and Danny Perry of Broadway, Terry and John Tease of Basye, Patsy and Dale Dove of Harrisonburg, Pamela and Skip Hyser of Harrisonburg, Jackie and Danny Rohrer of Harrisonburg; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny and Susie Armentrout of Harrisonburg, Charlie Armentrout of Bridgewater, Jeff and Sjaan Armentrout of Harrisonburg; a sister, Dolly Huffman of Broadway; stepmother, Georgie Armentrout of Harrisonburg; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Pastors Wilma White and Brian Posey will conduct a funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Fellowship United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Fellowship cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
The casket will be closed.
