Lawrence Wilson Adams, Sr. was the oldest of four children born to Wilson Turner Adams and Josephine Virginia (Hardy) Harris Adams. He married Ethel Virginia Buzzerd on December 24, 1931 in Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia. They had one child, Lawrence Wilson Adams, Jr. Later in life, his wife was debilitated by a stroke that left her paralyzed, bed-ridden and unable to speak. She was moved to the Colonial Manor Nursing home in York, Pennsylvania, where he visited her every single day (no matter what the weather), until her death in 1981.

He was a member of the Hanover Evangelical Free Church.

He was employed as a tractor-trailer driver for over 50 years with Hanover Scrap & Processing in Hanover, Pennsylvania.

He was survived by his son, Lawrence Wilson Adams, Jr. a daughter-in-law, Darlene Adams; two grandsons, Mitchell and Christopher Adams; one granddaughter, Misti Adams; and one great-granddaughter, Lauren Adams. He was also survived by his sister Elsie Margaret Adams Nadenbousch of Hedgesville, West Virginia. He also had a brother Howard Omar Adams who had been missing since about 1960. He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Harold Adams.

Services will be held Monday at 1:00 PM at the Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover, with the Rev. Arthur C Woods, pastor of the Hanover Evangelical Free Church, officiating. The viewing will be Sunday evening as the funeral home. Interment will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens in Hanover, Pennsylvania.
