John Francis Nolte served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the 354th Base Unit, United States Army Air Forces during World War II.

He also served in the Army during World War I.

He was a son of John Sebastian Nolte and Laura May (Wharton) Nolte.

He was called into active service with the U.S. Army on August 15, 1917 as a 2nd Lieutenant of Infantry.

He first served in the 313th U.S. Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division to May 3, 1918.

He then served in the 8th Training Battalion, 154th Depot Brigade to June 11, 1918.

He also served in the 6th Training Battalion.

He then served in the 2nd Company, Infantry to April 5, 1919.

He then served in the 16th U.S. Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division to the time of his discharge from the Army.

The principal duty stations he served at in the U.S. were Chillicothe, Ohio, Camp Meade, Maryland, and Camp Merritt, New Jersey.

He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant on July 22, 1918 at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indiana.

He served overseas from May 6, 1919 to September 2, 1919.

He received his discharge from the Army on October 9, 1919.

He entered active service with the U.S. Army during World War II on July 25, 1942 at Ft. Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania.

He received his discharge from the Army for his World War II service on July 30, 1946 at Ft. McPherson, Georgia.

He was originally from Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.

His last place of residence was in Miami, Florida.
