Reuben Sigvald Larson was born in Comstock, Minnesota on June 14, 1902. He grew up in Wolverton and finished school there before moving out west to Puyallup in 1921. He got a job in a paint store where he met his bride-to-be, Josephine Snider, also an employee in the store. They were married on April 2, 1927, in Yakima, Washington where they made their first home.

Rube and Jo were married six years before their first child was born and they made many friends. They both loved to dance and have a good time. They were avid fishermen and would hike with other couples to lakes where they would all camp and fish. Their two children were born in Puyallup, Donovan and Rae.

In 1946, Reuben started Puyallup. In 1953, Don started working with him full time and this arrangement continued until 1972 when Rube retired and Don took over the business. Rube died two years later on February 20, 1974.

Jo and Rube really enjoyed their grandchildren and never missed an activity the kids were in. Rube was a great storyteller and loved to tell tales of years gone by, especially fish stores and "the one that got away." He was a member of the Sumner Sportsman's Club, the Puyallup Elks Lodge and Peace Lutheran Church.
