Mary Ann (LaFollette) Redinbaugh(1945 - 2010)

Mary Ann Redinbaugh, age 64, passed away at her home in Reno, Nevada on Sunday August 15, 2010.

Mary Ann was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 8, 1945 to Willard and Betty LaFollette. Raised in Columbus, she attended Holy Spirit Elementary, Bishop Hartley High School and went on to graduate from The Ohio State University having earned a B.S. in Education. She began her teaching career at St. Catharine's Parochial School in Columbus, and on January 25, 1969 married her husband Kurt at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Columbus, Ohio upon his return from service in South-East Asia . The two of them relocated to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida were they began their life together.

After leaving the service, Kurt and Mary Ann returned to Columbus, where she resumed her teaching career at St. Catharine's, gave birth to their two sons Erik and Ian and began her life long involvement with youth athletics.
They moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1973 where Kurt began his career with the JCPenney Catalog Division and in 1974 again returned to Columbus Ohio as Kurt's career advanced with JCPenney. Mary Ann once again resumed her teaching career at St. Catharine's. In 1979 the family made their final move, to Reno, Nevada as the JCPenney Catalog Distribution Center on Stead Blvd. was brought on line to serve the western states.

Mary Ann also worked for JCPenney for a number of years before dedicating her life to Little League Baseball in Northern Nevada and Eastern California. She served as President of Washoe Little League for two terms and as Nevada District 1 Administrator for 10 years. She served on The Western Regional Directors Advisory Board and was also an Officer of The Reno Youth Sports Association since it's inception.

Mary Ann was proud of her family and proud of her commitment to youth sports. She was a great wife, devoted mother and a great friend to many.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Kurt, her sons Erik and Ian, Erik's wife Kristine and their son Luke, all of Reno NV, her sister Nancy Shearer, niece Elizabeth Ann Young, Elizabeth's husband Stephan and their children Alexandra and Charles David of Omaha NE, her Nephew Kenneth Shearer of Tokyo, Japan, Brother-in-law Kim (Red) Redinbaugh, Kim's wife Jan-Jan and their children Nephew Mclean and his wife Lynsey Mcgee, their son Louis, and Niece Tegan and her husband Sean Conkey and their son Han, all of Sydney, Australia, her sister-in-law Kirsten Berkermer and Kirsten's husband Dr. Robert Berkemer of Menomonie,WI.

She is also survived by her mother-in-law, the lovely matriarch of the family, Ruth (Girl) Redinbaugh, also of Menomonie,WI.

A visitation will be held at Ross, Burke and Knobel Mortuary, 2155 Kietzke Lane, Reno, on Friday, August 20, 2010 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, August 21, 2010 at St. Therese Church of The Little Flower, 875 E. Plumb Lane, Reno at 12 Noon with the interment to follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the following: Little League Western Region Headquarters, 6707 Little League Drive, San Bernardino CA 92407, 909-887-6444: Attention Building Fund
