AGAWAM, Mass. -- W. "Jim" Brusig, 84, of 130 South Park Terrace died July 5, 2003 in Baystate Medical Center. He was born and raised in Laramie, Wyoming where he worked at the family business as a locksmith and gunsmith before enlisting in the Air Force. He has lived in Agawam for 38 years and retired from Western Mass Electric in 1980 after working 33 years as a sales representative. He was a member of Agawam Congregational Church and the Mt. Orthodox Lodge of Masons. Jim was cubmaster for the Boy Scouts in Agawam and also coached little league hockey in Agawam. He was an avid skier and was once the Wyoming State Figure Skating Champion. Jim was a former member of the Electric Council of New England and chairman of Yankee Section Illuminating Engineering Society. He leaves his wife Avis (Hackett) Brusig, whom he married on June 8, 1945, a son Jeffrey Brusig and his wife Beth of Virginia Beach, VA, a sister Maxine Prahl of Laramie, Wyoming, a brother Richard, a granddaughter Andrea and several nieces and nephews. The memorial service will be Saturday July 19 at 11 am in Agawam Congregational Church. Committal services will be Wednesday July 16 at 11am in Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery. No calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Agawam Ambulance Fund, 800 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001 or to the Agawam Congregational Church, 745 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
