Gone to Rest.

Edwin Cook proprietor of the Udall Record, died at the home of his father, J.B. Cook near Udall on Sunday morning Aug. 3rd, 1890. The deceased was born in Shawnee county, Kans., Dec. 27, 1869, and his father having settled here 14 years ago. Edwin has grown up in this community and was widely and favorably known. April 1st, he purchased the paper plant of this place and for the last four months he has been devoting his entire time to the interests of the paper, until within about a week of his death; he was taken down with typhoid fever, and sank very rapidly under its ravages, until Sunday morning, he quietly passed away. The deceased was a faithful and devoted member of the Congregational church and the society of Christian Endeavor in which he took an active part and a deep interest. He was also captain of the S. of V. of this place, and was also a member of the order Legion of Honor of Udall. The remains were followed from his home to the Udall cemetery by a very large procession of people, where he was buried with the honors, of the Legion of Honor which was very impressive. The pall bearers were members of the S. of V. they were Chas. Ammon, Wm. Miles, Fred Ammon, Wallace Seaman, Eugene Miles and Albert Conklin with Irwin Sanders as flag bearer. The funeral sermon will be preached at the Congregational Church in Udall next Sunday Aug. 10, at 11 a.m.
