SYRACUSE – Thayne Brent Haney returned home to his Father in Heaven September 29, 2007 due to natural causes after an extended illness.

Thayne, the son of Brent Leon Haney and Edna Mae Shy was born September 24, 1966 in Ogden, Utah.He was sealed to the love of his life Amy Kay Paskett July 7, 1989 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Their family has been blessed with four wonderful children, Jessica, Jacob, Thomas and Andrew.

A winner throughout his life in all he set out to do, his scholastic abilities were recognized early with his receipt of the Hope of America Award. Excelling throughout school he graduated from Bonneville High School in 1984 and earned a full ride scholarship to Weber State College, graduating with a Bachelors in mechanical engineering with a minor in automotive design. He applied his skills and education with several companies in the area, holding about 100 patents for his work.

A life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he served in the Argentina Rosario Mission and in a variety of leadership and teaching positions, most, as he kept his Eagle oath taken at age 15 to give back to scouting. His greatest joy was his family. He loved his family and their times together hunting fishing, and scuba diving. He relished the time learning from his father and sharing those skills with his boys.
