Served in the US Army, enlisted 1 Nov 1919 and mustered out 11 Jun 1928. He then joined the St. Louis City Police Department. He was killed in line of duty with the St. Louis City Police Department.

First wife was Agnes Rose Grieshaber and 2nd. wife was Elanor May Laird. Elanor remarried after Grady's death to Theodore John Lodholz. Theodore and Elanor are also buried in this cemetery
