Mary Jane (Akins) Rogers, 86, of Lead Hill, passed away Thursday, Aug. 19 (2010).

Mary was born Feb. 12, 1924, in Lead Hill to Roy and Allie (Journagan) Akins. She grew up in the Lead Hill area. She married Lonzo Rogers in 1945 and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Lead Hill Church of God.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Iris Dean Rogers; three sisters, Leiza (Akins) Copeland, Alice (Akins) Young, Betty (Akins) Bearnath; and three brothers, Boyd Akins, L.R. Akins and John Akins.

She is survived by her son, Randy Rogers; one sister, Buelah Jo Harington and her husband, Roy; one brother, Frank Akins and his wife, Virginia; grandchildren Randy Leon Rogers and his wife, Tina, and Crystal Rogers; three great-grandchildren, Alexandria Rogers, Tyler Rogers and Chase Rogers; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pall bearers will be Bobby Rogers, Billy Joe Rogers, Tim Rogers, Steve Copeland, James Roy Rogers and Grover Downs. Honorary pall bearers include Bristol Point staff members.

Mary filled her time with family and friends. She enjoyed being on Bull Shoals Lake fishing with her husband, gardening and making quilts for her family.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, at Coffman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 23, at Lead Hill Church of God, with burial at Keesee Cemetery in Lead Hill. The Rev. Billy Rogers will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are with Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison.
