Ola was living in North Hollywood when he joined the Army in World War II. Commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant, he was served as the pilot of a small observation aircraft with the 491st Armored Field Artillery Battalion, 11th Armored Division in Germany. He was wounded in March 1945 when his aircraft was damaged by ground fire, but managed to land safely.
After the war, he became an attorney and practiced law in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma before returning to California.
He died in Los Angeles, California on February 5, 1990. His grave has not been located.
