Woodrow Wilson Blackburn, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Born in Warsaw, North Carolina, in 1914, to the late Robert Teachey Blackburn and Mary Ann Hubbard Blackburn, he was the husband of the late Mary Carlton Blackburn of Warsaw. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Richard Blackburn, Matt Blackburn, Walter Blackburn, and Manley Blackburn four sisters, Maybelle King, Stella Reaves, Irene Bartlett, and Lena Aiken.

Mr. Blackburn was a graduate of Warsaw High School and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Louisburg College. He served in the United States Army in World War II. He owned Service Oil Company in Warsaw prior to retirement and was a farmer. He was a member of the Warsaw United Methodist Church, the American Legion, the Warsaw Lions Club, and the Masonic Lodge. He loved golfing, fishing, gardening, and visiting his grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughter Rosemary Blackburn Peterson and husband Paul of Bethesda, Maryland, two granddaughters, Michaela Peterson and Anna Maria Peterson of Bethesda, one brother, R.T. Blackburn, Jr. of Warsaw; two sisters, Mary Lily London and Attie Pearl Blackburn, both of Florida.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 6 at 11 o'clock a.m. at the Warsaw United Methodist Church in Warsaw, NC, followed by a graveside service at Devotional Gardens in Warsaw,
