"Civil War Veteran", Co. H, 147th Regt. New York Vol. Inf. Findagrave member, Linda Mac adds that George was the Son of John G. and Maria LaFever, married Fanny Maria Carrier 17 Jan. 1862. Further info. from FAG member Cherie Officer and Olean Evening Herald, May 11, 1914 Page 7 and Tuesday, May 12, 1914 Page 7. George passed away after a lengthy illness at his home on Garden Ave.(Olean, NY) from a complication of Diseases. He had lived nearly all his life in East Olean and was a member of Bayard Post # 222, G.A.R. Two sons survive, George of Wolf Creek Rd.(Portville, NY) and Richard of Wolf Run Rd.(Portville), three daughters, Mrs. O.J. Folts, Hinsdale, NY., Mrs. W.J. Gamble, Elmira, NY. and Mrs. W.O. DeKay, Olean, and by 14 grandchildren. Funeral was held at his home on May 13, 1914.
