ARTHUR L. CHERRYHOLMES

Arthur L. Cherryholmes, 79, of Oelwein, Iowa, died on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010 at his home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. There will not be a visitation. Inurnment in the Chariton Cemetery at a later date.

Arthur Loyal Cherryholmes was born on November 26, 1930 at Chariton, Iowa, the son of Loyal Charles and Elva Osella (Moats) Cherryholmes. He graduated from Chariton High School. Art worked on the Maytag Farm at Newton for 25 years. He later moved to Cedar Rapids and became a truck driver. Art had been a resident of Oelwein for the past 15 years.

Art is survived by his two daughters, Patty (Charles) Usborne of Ashburn, Virginia and Sandra M. Sheppard of Growetown, Georgia, four grandchildren including Brian Girdner of Swanee, Georgia, two great-grandchildren, two brothers, Lloyd Cherryholmes and Burl (Pauline) Cherryholmes, both of Marion, two sisters, Frances Prather and Martha Smith, both of Russell, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Dowe, Keith and Marshall.

Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
