DENTON, MD. - Roy Carter Bowman, of Denton, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at the Envoy of Denton. He was 88. Born in Hillsville, Va., on March 10, 1922, Mr. Bowman was the son of the late Roy O. Bowman and Esther H. Gardner Bowman. He had moved to Ganey's Wharf near Harmony, at the age of four. Mr. Bowman was a Caroline County farmer most of his life and liked to buy and sell farms. He was also a Supervisor at EI DuPont in Seaford for 43 years, retiring in 1984. He was a WWII US Coast Guard veteran and a member of the American Legion Caroline Post 29. He was also a member of the Choptank Ruritan Club and the Wayside Church of Christ and Christian Union near Denton. Mr. Bowman is survived by his wife of 65 years, Grace E. Bowman, whom he married November 4, 1944; two daughters, Sandra Lee Bowman Davis and her husband Richard of Salisbury, and Jayne L. Bowman Lister and her husband Paul of Denton; one son, David Carter Bowman and his wife Amy of Denton; two sisters, Louise Johnstone of Florida and Janie Conner and her husband Francis of Portage, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Eric Davis, Sean Davis and his wife Ali, Lacey Lister and Jeff Lord, David-Michael Bowman, Brad Bowman, Marshall Thompson, and Mickey Thompson; and one great-grandchild, Leah Davis. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 23rd, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St., in Denton where friends may call one hour prior to the service. DENTON — Grace E. Bowman died Monday, April 13, 2015, at the Envoy of Denton, MD. She was 90 years old.

Born in Harmony, MD, Mrs. Bowman was the daughter of the late Charles Hubert Fearins and Lula H. Shufelt Fearins. Her husband and the love of her life, Roy Carter Bowman, died on August 18, 2010.

Mrs. Bowman had worked at the Federalsburg Button Factory, but she had been a homemaker all of her life. She loved her Lord and had faithfully served her churches, the First Church of God in Federalsburg and the Denton Wayside Church of Christ in Christian Union. She had been a Sunday school teacher, active in Church Circles, a member of both the Federalsburg and Denton Homemakers’ Clubs, and was an avid reader.

Mrs. Bowman is survived by two daughters: Sandra Lee Davis and her husband Richard of Salisbury and Jayne L. Lister and her husband Paul of Denton; one son, David C. Bowman and his wife Amy of Denton; eight grandchildren: Eric Davis, Sean Davis and his wife Alison, Rich Davis, David Michael C. Bowman and his friend Hannah, Bradford Bowman, Marshall Thompson, Mickey Thompson, and Lacey Lister Lord and her husband Jeff; and four great-grandchildren: Leah, Anna Grace, Brandon and Alonna.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 17, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second Street in Denton, where friends may call from 12 until 1 before the service. The interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Federalsburg.
