Mary E. Waller, 69, of Lubbock, went to be with her Lord on Oct. 25, 2007. Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at First Church of the Nazarene, with Dr. Curtis Sellers officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Mary was born in Waverly, Kan. on July 22, 1938, to Clifton and Faythe (Brandt) Waller. She graduated from Nampa High School, in Nampa, Idaho, in 1956. She attended Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa and graduated in 1960 with a BA in English. She then attended Texas Tech University where she received her Master's of Education degree. She was on the tennis team in college at Northwest Nazarene University.
Mary taught girls' PE and English at O.L. Slaton Junior High School, and also taught English at J.T. Hutchinson Junior High. She retired in 1994 after teaching for 34 years. Mary loved to travel, play golf, and work with her hands doing cross-stitch.
Mary did mission work and went on mission trips through her church, First Church of the Nazarene. She served as local treasurer for Nazarene Missions International.
Mary is survived by a sister, Betty Waller of Boise, Idaho; her long time friend and roommate of 48 years, Evelyn Gray of Lubbock; and her extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to Nazarene Missions International, in care of First Church of the Nazarene, 6110 Chicago Ave., Lubbock, TX 79424.
