Mr. McCarthy, known affectionately to his many friends as "Little Tim," was born In Ireland, coming to this land in early life, and was an early settler of this vicinity, clearing a large farm In Irish Hollow, near Smethport, which he operated for many years up to the time he retired from active pursuits in latelife.
