DEATH OF WILLIAM BOUCHA.
Another Pioneer of Mackinac County Enters into Rest.
William Boucha sr. died Feb 8, 1905, at 9:20 a.m., at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bruno Leclerc, on court-house square. He was born Nov. 1, 1826, at LaPrairie, Prov. Quebec, and came to Detroit when fifteen years of age. He lived with an uncle in that city for five years, then came north to Mackinac Island, where he was employed by Edward Biddle for several years during the winter season, and in the summer sailed between Chicago and Buffalo.
Dec. 28, 1849, he was married to Miss Catherine Trotocheau. Sixteen children were born of this union, eight sons and eight daughters. Three sons and all of the daughters survive him. His good wife, at the age of 70 years, is also living and deeply mourns the loss she has sustained.
Mr. Boucha was a resident of Mackinac county for 43 years, a man of affairs, and esteemed by all who knew him. He had been in ill health for three years past, and of late suffered from heart and liver trouble. He was tenderly cared for by his daughter, Mrs. Leclerc, and his last days on earth were made as comfortable as possible.
The funeral was held from the house this morning, and interment made in the Catholic cemetery. Rev. John Mockler, the officiating priest, said mass at the convent.
