Jacqueline Elizabeth Evans, 74, of Bremerton died Mon-day of cancer at her home.
Born in the District of Columbia to John and Eleanor (Sayles) Schaffert, she grew up there, graduating from McKinley High School and studying at George Washington University for two years. On Nov. 1, 1960, she married Merrill Evans in National City, Calif.
Mrs. Evans worked several years in secretarial positions and also as a homemaker while her husband served in the U.S. Navy. She enjoyed participating in musical theater wherever they were stationed.
She was a ceramics instructor, a VISTA volunteer, a scout leader and an avid collector of dolls.
Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her son, Philip Andrew Evans, in 1999 and her parents.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Jeffery Evans of Los Angeles and Scott Evans and his wife, Julia, of Silverdale; and two grandchildren, Samantha and Shannon Evans, both of Silverdale.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton. Memorial donations may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 560309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
