Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 20 Mar 1879 p2: "Amos M. Roberts, President of the Penobscot Savings Bank, died in Boston, Sunday morning, at the advanced age of 77. Major Roberts has been a resident of Bangor nearly fifty years. He was President of the Eastern Bank from its corporation in 1825 to the close of 1871. He was also a prominent lumber operator and distinguished for busines [sic] sagacity and integrity. He held many positions of trust and responsibility."
