She was the wife of U.S. Rep. Charles Pelham. Her husband wrote letters about her and the war to his aunt Martha Coffin Wright. Martha was a famous abolitionist and suffragette, and the letters (Charles and Martha) are found on the internet. Charles was the brother of Lt. Colonel John Pelham of J.E.B. Stuarts flying horse artillery. Margaret Pelham was also the mother of Judge John Clay Pelham and daughter, Rosa Pelham.

According to Andrea Winstead 05/10/2015, she is buried in Cave Hill Cem., Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY. However there is also a FAG memorial to her stating the Congressional Cem., Washington DC. Not sure which is correct.
