'Wallace' was an assemblyman and treasurer/tax collector for San Joaquin County and owner of the freighting stop on the Sonora Road near Collegeville known as the '8-mile House' or 'Kerricks Tavern'. His ranch at that location grew to 400 acres along with his holdings in Butte and Yolo counties.
