Francis Oliver ``Bubba'' Thompson, 62, owner of Thompson's Board Shop, died at his residence in Bayou La Batre on Tuesday.

Active in the Bayou La Batre Chamber of Commerce and the Blessing of the Fleet, he was a founding member of Zirlott Park. A member of St. Michael's and St. Margaret's Catholic churches, he was a native of Heron Bay.

Survivors include his wife, Sharron Dumas Thompson of Bayou La Batre; three children, Gwen White, Brenda Wilcox and Toby Thompson; a sister, Evelyn Thompson; seven brothers, Ernest Thompson, Clarence Thompson, Percy Thompson, Bobby Thompson, Dan Thompson, B.G. Thompson, and Jack Thompson; and 10 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Heron Bay. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church. The rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Mission of Hope, P.O. Box 8504, Mobile, Ala., 36689. Interment will be in Dorlon Cemetery. Arrangements by Radney Funeral Home.
