Henry Whittelsey, b. at South Farms, Conn., May 18, 1790. Mr. Whittelsey rose rapidly in his occupations and in the church, in early life he contented himself at home of his parents, m. on July 20, 1815, Abby Rea, b. Dec. 6, 1790, the dau. of William and Hannah (Gibbs) Rea of South Farms (Morris), Conn. Mr. Whittelsey was a deacon in the church in 1847. He removed to New York city where he became the tract missionary for the City Missions. He d. April 26, 1879. Mrs. Whittelsey d. Nov. 1, 1860.

Their children were:
1. Henry Rea, b. April 26, 1816, m. Mary A. Parmlee. Had issue.
2. Cornelia Robbins, b. May 25, 1818, m. James M. Thomas. Had issue.
3. Harriet Eliza, b. at Danbury, Conn., Aug. 11, 1824, m. at New York city, Nov. 28, 1848, Giles Peter Van Ness, b. at Pompton Plains, N. J., Oct 22, 1824, son of Peter and Betsey (Hanlenbeck) Van Ness of Pompton Plains, N. J. Mr. Van Ness was a grocer and d. in New York city April 1, 1885. Mrs. Van Ness d. in New York city, Feb. 10, 1891. They had no children.
4. Catherine Amelia, b. at South Farms, Conn., April 24, 1830, m. Oct. 4, 1882, at Springfield, Mass., Frederick Augustus Brinsmade, b. at Washington, Conn., Sept. 2, 1824, son of Daniel Elliott and Abigail Farrand (Mitchell) Brinsmade of Washington, Conn. Mr. Brinsmade had been previously married, was a retired farmer. They resided in Springfield, Mass. Owing to Mrs. Brinsmade's ill health in 1896-7, she went South to Pinehurst, N. C., where she died March 25, 1897. Her remains were brought to Washington, Conn., where they were laid to rest.
5. Harriet (Henrietta on headstone wswIII) Augusta, b. at South Farms, Conn., March 12, 1835, d. in New York city, July 13, 1842.
