The clergyman, who died yesterday in Reading Hospital, will be buried in the Laureldale Cemetery. The Rev. James G. Koch and the Rev. Timothy D. Gehret will officiate. The Clauser Funeral Home, Schaefferstown, is in charge of arrangements.
His first charge after entering the ministry in 1917 was at Walnutport – Northampton, where he was stationed for six years.
From 1923 to 1945, the Rev. Mr. Woodring conducted weekly meetings in Kutztown for the Fleetwood, Blandon and Terre Hill circuits.
Before retiring because of ill health in 1955, he had been stationed in Quakertown for two years.
Born in Weissport, Carbon County, a son of the late Rev. Richard L. and Clara (Ziegenfuss) Woodring, he had worked as an apprentice printer for the Quakertown Free Press before entering the ministry.
Active in conference affairs, the Rev. Mr. Woodring had been secretary of the annual church camp for more that 25 years and also had been in charge of the children's camp for many years.
Former vice district superintendent of the church, he also had served on its beneficiary and church extension committees.
He and his wife, Hilda M. (Moyer) Woodring, would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary next Oct. 8th.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by a son, Dr. Leonard R. Woodring, Wyomissing; two granddaughters and a sister, Mrs. Dora Gehman, Reading."
