From the St. Paul Phonograph, April 10, 1908, page 5, transcribed by Linda Berney:

Robt. Cargill, at one time a resident of this county, but now of Palmer, died at his home in that village Sunday. We have not been able to learn particulars. Mr. Cargill was well known in St. Paul and has many friends in this county who will be pained to learn of his demise.

Robert was a Private, Company G., 118th Infantry. He mustered out of the military 10.01.1865 in Illinois. His brother Lewis was killed at Millikens Bend, LA 05.14.1863.

He and Susan Rice had 10 children:
