Lawrence V. Adams, Sr., 81, Martinsville, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the Morgan Hospital & Medical Center emergency room.

He was born on March 26, 1929 in Morgan County to John Adams and Stella Reynolds.

Lawrence married Marian Means on September 13, 1952.

He retired from Greyhound Park in Phoenix, Arizona. Prior to moving there, he worked for Charles Steel Sawmill in Martinsville and Thiesing Veneer Company in Mooresville.

Lawrence enjoyed watching "Old Westerns," taking pictures, and collecting coins.

He is survived by his wife, Marian (Means) Adams of Martinsville; three sons, Lawrence V. "Friz" Adams, Jr. and wife Roxanna of Paragon, Edward Adams and wife Lydia of Arizona, and Robert Adams of Martinsville; one half brother, Eugene Ferrand of Martinsville; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, John Adams and Stella Reynolds; and two half brothers, Richard "Frog" Reynolds and Sidney Leon Farrand.

The graveside service and burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 6, 2010 at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville with Rev. Pat Davis officiating.
