Katherine Lydia Mooney

Katherine Lydia (Scott) Mooney, daughter of Samuel C. and Lydia A. (Feige) Scott was born April 9, 1889 in Linn County, Iowa, and passed away August 25, 1971 at the Community Hospital in Broken Bow, Nebraska.
Her childhood was spent in Iowa. On July 15, 1905, she was united in marriage to Jed A. Mooney at Pender, Nebraska. To this union six children were born. In October 1927, she was Baptized into the Methodist Church at Mason City, Nebraska.
The early years of their marriage was spent farming near Pender, Nebraska. They then moved to a homestead at Mayflower, Nebraska. Where they operated the Post Office and store. In 1920 they moved to Mason City, Nebraska where they have lived until the present time. On July 15, 1971 they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary, with their entire family in attendance.
She was a loving wife and devoted Mother, with never a cross word. Living strictly by the Golden Rule. Her quiet strength and patience will be greatly missed by those who remain.
Survivors include her husband, Jed A. Mooney, two sons, Jed Henry & Glendora of Mason City, NE and Jay William & Leah of Sunnyvale, CA. one daughter Verdna Lydia & Erroll Schue of Los Altos CA. Two sisters Verdna Musselman of Sioux City, IA. And Gertrude Higbee of Chico, CA Twelve Grandchildren and Twenty five great-grandchildren,
She is preceeded in death by her Parents and Three Daughters Three Grandchildren, Two Brothers and Three Sisters.
Funeral services were held August 28th in the Methodist Church in Mason City, NE with the Rev. Roy Wingate of Hamburg, IA in charge of the service. Burial was in the Mason City Cemetery, the Govier Brothers Mortuary in charge of arrangements. Casket Berers were her grandsons. Jeh Harvey Mooney - Micael Jay Mooney - Ronald Holscher - Dale Haller - Bill Vockie - Carl Joseph Bernert - Singers were Mrs Glen Cherry and daughter Zoe, accompanied by Ardit Cherry.
