Last rites for Mrs. Sophronia Alexander, 74, widow of George W. Alexander and mother of Mrs. Alvin Doll, of Poseyville, were held Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the home of a son, Forrest Alexander, in Stewartsville. Services were in charge of the Rev. A.A. Shoultz, of Owensville, who was assisted by the Rev. T.R. Roberts, pastor of the Poseyville Methodist church. Internment was in the Poseyville cemetery by the side of the husband who died twelve years ago. Mrs. Alexander died shortly after 9 o'clock Saturday night ater an illness of six years. The daughter of Hiram and Martha Montgomery Smith, Mrs. Alexander, a native of Gibson county, came to Stewartsville to live following her marriage and spent the remainder of her life there. Invalided six years ago by a stroke of paralysis, she had borne her infirmities with remarkable patience. She was a woman of kind and gentle ways and she was known to be both a good neighbor and a good friend. Girls of the eleventh and twelfth grades served as flower bearers at the funeral and solos were sung by Mrs. Winston Johnson and Mr. Eugene Eagleson, Sr. Surviving are three sons, Forrest, Foster and Stedman Alexander, all of Stewartsville, two daughters, Mrs. Garland Heuring, of Danville, Ill. and Mrs. Doll, of Poseyville, an aunt, Mrs. Victoria Redman, of Owensville and eleven grandchildren.
