Carl Gottlob Tröger (1828-1873) immigrated to America c. 1843

Carl married Lucinda Christman (1836-1908), born in Allentown, PA. When he died in 1873, Carl left behind a wife and eight children aged 15,13,11,9,7,5,3 and 1. I think Carl was a coal miner and although he died in Mercer Co. PA, he moved to the coal fields in Wheeling, Cook Co. IL after marrying in 1857. His two oldest children were born there. Then the family moved back to the coal mines in West Salem, Mercer Co. PA where the next five children were born. After Carl's death, his widow, Lucinda, took the family to the coal mines in Brazil, Clay County, IN sometime between 1885 and 1888. Her three youngest sons were coal miners there according to census records. In 1897 George Moritz Treager, the oldest son, took his family back to Fayette County PA. Some of George's siblings and his mother remained in Brazil. She died there 21 Mar 1908. One of George's sons, Earl Wheeler, was a coal miner in Westmoreland Co, PA.
