W. B. Rogers, who died in this city April 30, was a Confederate soldier and served under Gen. Porter. He and his brother-in-law, John Kent, were in the fight at Kirksville, and both were taken prisoners. The Confederate soldiers were stationed in the houses, and a ball struck the building in which Rogers and Kent were located, filling Roger's eyes with mortar, rendering him almost blind for a time.
