Ygnacio Gonzales Agundez II
Visitation for Ygnacio Gonzales Agundez II will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Higgins Chapel in Antioch. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Higgins Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak View Memorial Park Cemetery in Antioch.
He died Thursday in Martinez. He was 90.
A native of Sonora, Mexico, he moved to Superior, Ariz., in 1917 and worked at a copper mine for about five years. In 1930, he moved to what is now known as Union City. He arrived in East County in 1933, living in Pittsburg before moving to Antioch in 1943. He worked as first helper at U.S. Steel in Pittsburg for 30 years, retiring in 1964. He lived in Antioch for the past 53 years.
He loved people, enjoyed dancing, sports and being outdoors. He was a member of Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witnesses in Antioch.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Julia Agundez of Antioch; three daughters, Armida Cremeans of Antioch, Lucy Mijares of Union City and Rachel Applegate of Mountain Ranch; two sons, Nacho Agundez of Sparks, Nev. and Raoul Agundez of Nevada; a brother, William Agundez of Union City; a sister, Clemencia Lopez of Modesto; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
