He was born Dec. 8, 1878 in Coon Twp. to Christopher and C. Fredericka Porath Nitzke. On Dec. 8, 1904 he was united in marriage with Augusta Porath. They lived on the Nitzke home place in Coon Twp. where they farmed.

He is survived by his wife, Augusta; two sons, Victor Louis, who also resides at the farm home, and Julian Harold, now receiving officers' training somewhere in the South Pacific; one granddaughter, Judith Kay Nitzke; four sisters, Mrs. Edward Hanke of Varina, Mrs. Anna Ahntholz of Storm Lake, Mrs. Henry Ahntholz of Albert City, and Mrs. Lillian Lumsden of Cedar Rapids; four brothers, Sam of San Raphael, Edward and Dr. Andrew Nitzke of Storm Lake and Dr. Ben Nitzke of Tacoma, Washington; and a host of relatives and friends.
