Clyde Acie Roberts, 78, of Sheridan died of an apparent heart attack while fishing at Lake DeSmet, May 23. He was born May 23, 1915, in Greenbrier County, W. Va., to James Emery and Sally (Hankins) Roberts. He worked as a horse trainer for various ranches in the Sheridan area, and was employed by the city of Sheridan for eight years. For several years he drove a truck for the Salvation Army.
An avid fisherman who enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Roberts was a member of the Elks Lodge 520 and the Salvation Army Church. He married Lula Davenport, who preceded him in death in 1954.
He was also preceded in death by a son, James Emery Roberts; four brothers, Avery, Claude, Okey and Aaron, and a sister, Erie Hammond.
He married Donna Davey on Nov. 29, 1969, in Sheridan.
He is survived by his wife of Sheridan; three sons, Wayne P. Roberts of Sheridan, Clyde M. Roberts of New Mexico, and Aaron J. Roberts of Billings; two sisters, Opal Frost and Edith Roberts; two brothers, Everett Roberts and Elmer Roberts; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Salvation Army Chapel, with Lt. Kyle Trimmer officiating. Champion Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Of this date 1-17-2012, only one sister living of his siblings.
