Bert H. Barrs, age 95, passed away
Sunday, August 15, 2010 surrounded
by his loving family. He was born
April 11, 1915 in Wauchula, FL. which
was DeSoto County at the time. Bert
lived in Sebring, FL, Zolfo Springs,
FL. and Newberry, FL before
returning to DeSoto County.
Bert loved his family and the Lord.
He was a member of the Church
of God, where
he was a Sunday school teacher and
member of the finance committee. He
served our Country in the United
States Navy and was active duty during
World War II. Bert also enjoyed
fishing, hunting, wood working and
raising homing pigeons.
He is survived by one daughter; Carolyn
Sue( Charles B.) Chambers of
Jackson, GA; four grandchildren,
Pamela (Robert) Frisbee of Woodstock
GA, Kimberly (Tracy) Rice of Griffin,
GA, Charles (Debby) Chambers of Locust
Grove, GA and Craig (Cindi)
Chambers of McDonough, GA; eight
great grandchildren, Lauren McDonald,
Amanda Frisbee, Evan Frisbee,
Joshua Rice, Julie Rice, Jacob Rice,
Catherine Chambers and Christopher
Chambers; step great grandchild,
Louise Tysoe; sister in law Lorene
(Pete) Griffin of Nocatee, FL; special
adopted family, Wayne and Carol
Sloan, Mitch and Ester Ballard and Jeremy
and Rachel Clements. Bert was
preceded in death by two wives, Eula
Mae Parrish Barrs and Louise Cross
Barrs, parents John F. and Annie
Raulerson Barrs, brothers Carlos Barrs
and Harlace Barrs and sisters Verna
Keith and Irene Collins.
A gathering of family and friends was
on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from
11:00AM until 1:00PM at the Church
of God, 1423 Oak St., Arcadia.
Funeral Services will follow the visitation
at 1:00PM at the church with Rev.
Steve Griffin officiating. Burial will be
at Joshua Creek Cemetery.
