Dennis Gene Ludwig, 39, of Canton, died Friday, April 11, 1997, in Blessing Hospital, Quincy, Ill. Born May 15, 1957, in Quincy, he was a son of James C. and Bonnie V. Logan Ludwig. He married Lisa Hinton Feb. 4, 1979, at the Harold Ludwig residence near Canton. Mr. Ludwig was a member of the LaGrange Christian Church, LaGrange, and Big Tree Aerie #1800 F.O.E., Canton. He was a 1976 graduate of Canton High School and a 1979 graduate of Quincy Tech. He had been a truck driver for Vermillion Brothers, Inc., Keokuk, Iowa, for six years, retiring in 1986 due to health reasons. Survivors include a son, James "Jake" Ludwig of Canton; two daughters, Mind and Jessica Ludwig, both of Canton; five brothers, James Ludwig of Keokuk, Iowa, Harold Ludwig of LaGrange, Lyle Ludwig of Canton, Keigh Ludwig of Quincy, and Rodney Ludwig of Keokuk Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Don (Jane) Martin of Catlin, Ill., and Connie Otto of Quincy, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Linda Ludwig in infancy. Funeral services were held Monday, April 14, at 10 a.m., at Davis Funeral Home in Canton, with the Rev. Kenneth Ballard and Rev. Marshal Conklin officiating. Music was recorded selections. Pallbearers were Jim Ludwig, Harold Ludwig, Keith Ludwig, Lyle Ludwig, Dan Ludwig and Don Martin. Interment was in East Mid-Way Cemetery near LaGrange. Memorials may be made to Foundation for the Blind.
