L. Esper Trimble, 85 Final Rites Were Held February 1
Funeral services for Mrs. Olna G. (L. Esper) Trimble, 85, of Maryville, were held February 1 in Price Funeral Home in Maryville, conducted by Dr. Roger Goodwin of Laura Street Baptist Church in Maryville. Mrs. Trimble died in her home in Maryville, Mo. January 27, 1983. Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Blockton, Iowa.
L. [ela] Esper Trimble was born June 18, 1897 near Bedford.
She was the daughter of Marcus Albert and Jessie Martin Griffith.
The family moved from their farm to Blockton in 1905 where her father served as auctioneer for the area. She spent her early years here and was graduated in 1916.
She married John Harlan Standley, son of Dr. and Mrs. Joe Standley, and he died in 1931. Two daughters were born to them: Betty Standley and Johann L. Nigh of Ravenwood.
She was a retired teacher and Assistant Postmaster at Blockton for some time. She was baptized and a member of Blockton Christian Church, and later transferred to Laura Street Baptist Church in Maryville, Mo. where she attended when health permitted.
She was married to Olna G. [reen] Trimble in March 1949; they lived on a farm near Maryville, and in Maryville ten years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Betty, grandson, Keith Edward Nigh, and two brothers, Glade and Gordon Griffith, son-in-law, Keith Edward Nigh.
Left to cherish her memory are husband, Olna Trimble; daughter, Johann and son Lee, of the home; grandson, Stephen Freel of Omaha, Nebr.; granddaughter, Linda Walker and family, Paul, Shelly and Willis, Sheridan, Mo.; granddaughter Barbara Haines and her daughter, Lisa Baldwin, Fulton, Mo.; two great grandchildren: Mike and Chris Freel; two step-children: Elmo Trimble, Maryville, and Mrs. Milton Burget, Lincoln, Nebr.; a sister, Pearle Griffith, Blockton; sister-in-law, Ila Griffith, Scotts Bluff, Nebr.; sister-in-law, Fern Standley Straight, of rural Bedford; three nieces; one nephew; other relatives.
She was a kind and considerate wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
