Ben Samuel Calvert, 65, 2133 Oleander Drive, husband of Mary Ellen Haney Calvert, died Friday morning at the UK Medical Center after a long illness.

He retired after 24 years as Master Sergeant of the US Marine Corps and retired after 15 years as Traffic Controller for the Kentucky Department of Highways. He was born in Scott County [KY], son of the late Leon L. and Sarah Gaines Calvert, was a member of the Baptist Church, V.F.W. Post #680, and served during WWII, the Korean and Vietnam Wars in the US Marine Corps.

Other survivors are two daughters, Donna Calvert Music, Prestonsburg, and Debra Calvert, Georgetown; a brother, John W. Calvert, Santa Monica, CA; four grandchildren, David Music, Katherine Music, Benjamin Music, and Michael Music, all of Prestonsburg.

Funeral services will be 10AM Monday [24 Sep 1990] at the W.R. Milward Mortuary-Southland conducted by Msgr. Leonard B. Nienaber, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Joseph Moloney, Richard Moloney, William Moloney, Robert Cleveland, Dennis Minogue Haney, and Michael Haney. Friends may call 6-9PM Sunday.
