Funeral services for George F. Galley were held at 2 o'clock July 15 at Palmer Church of Christ conducted by Bro. Marco Witzenburg of Grand Island.

Pallbearers were Floyd and Leroy Newton, H.C. Stokes, Orville Nicholas, Ray Hunt and Bruce Starkey.

Flower assistants were Mrs. Tom O'Hare and Mrs. Glenn Nicholas.

Singers were Mr. and Mrs. Norris Haag and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Maddox, with Harry Prochaska at the piano.

Burial was in Palmer cemetery.

George Franklin Galley was born in Cass County, near Greenwood, Nebraska, December 27, 1870, and departed from this life at the St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island July 7, 1948, at the age of seventy-seven years, six months, and ten days.

He moved to Nuckolls County with his parents (Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Galley) when a small child and there he grew to manhood.

He was united in marriage to Mary Alice Veach January 11, 1893, at Nelson, Nebraska.

He homesteaded in Loup County and after leaving the homestead he resided at Central City, and Mountain Grove, Mo., before coming to Palmer where he has made his home for the past seventeen years.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters; Mrs. Roscoe Hodge of Palmer, Mrs. Marvin Garrett of Central City, and Mrs. Ethel Howell of Grand Island; three sons Lynn of Great Falls, Mont., Homer of Elk Mountain, Wyo., and Phil of Los Angeles, Calif.; fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one sister, Belle Galley of Palmer. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and one son, Eugene Earl.

He became a member of the Christian Church at the age of sixteen years. He has been a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed not only by his family but by a host of friends. – The Palmer Journal.
