He served in World War I and for a time was personal driver for General Pershing. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and served as department chaplain for that organization in the state of Oregon.

He was a graduate of Cotner College, Lincoln, Nebraska; Minnesota Bible College, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Vanderbilt University. The first forty years of his ministry was with churches in Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota.

At the start of World War II, he moved his family to Washington State (settling in Renton) and ministered in Washington and Oregon starting new churches and strengthening others.

In 1960, he and his wife became the first management team of the Atascadero Christian Home, Atascadero, California.
