Ida M. Busch, age 92 of Old Ripley, passed away at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Highland Hospital surrounded by her children. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 4, 2010 at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville, with Rev. Tom Plog officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday with Eastern Star Services friday evening by the Highland Chapter # 524 Order of the Eastern Star. For those who desire memorials may be made to the Reno-Bethel Cemetery or Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Ida M. Earnest, the daughter of Henry Joseph and Margeretta Isabelle Thompson Earnest, was born on December 22, 1917 in East St. Louis, Illinois. She was raised in Washington Park, Illinois and attended Charles Manor school there.

Ida and Lloyd E. Busch were united in marriage on June 9, 1936 in St. Louis, MO and enjoyed over 48 years together. In 1951 they moved their family to Old Ripley where Ida raised her family.They are the parents of seven children, six of whom survive: Lloyd E. (Shirley) Busch of Granite City, IL, Daryl R. (Kay) Busch of Perris, CA, Erwin "Deke" (Rae Lynn) Busch of Highland, Nona, Mrs. James Nance of the Old Ripley neighborhood, Darleen, Mrs. Keith Watson of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, and Wendy, Mrs. Lindell Zobrist of Tecumseh, MO, 25 grandchildren and 66 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Marvin Earnest of Old Ripley, Harry (Willa) Earnest of Sorento, and two sisters: Georgia, Mrs. John Bakay of Pocahontas and Lillian, Mrs. John Schuster of Pocahontas. Ida also helped raise 4 nephews: George, Ron, Eugene, and Donald Busch. She also made a home for several uncles as they aged.

Ida is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lloyd, her daughter Narleen Micnheimer on August 5, 2009, and 2 brothers Virgil Earnest and Edgar (Bud) Earnest, two sisters Nellie Greenfield and Gladys Wells, and three grandchildren.

Ida is a fifty year member of her Eastern Star Lodge, the Marigold Chapter O.E.S. of Pocahontas # 521 now merged with the Highland Chapter # 524 Order of the Eastern Star and they will lead Eastern Star Services here friday evening, and the White Shrine of Highland.
