Lifelong resident of Plymouth. Husband for 61 years of Jean. Father of 4. Grandfather of 2. Also survived by his brother, Lester.



He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1943. While in the ninth grade, a young lady named Jean Crandall wearing a yellow flared skirt with a yellow polka-dotted blouse caught his eye. They were married on May 22, 1948.

Bill retired from Ford Motor Company after 40 years as an engineer. He was an elder at First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth, where he was also a longtime member of the choir. He was a founding member of the Plymouth Community Band, and a member of both the Plymouth Historical Society and the Plymouth Oratorio Society. He attended the University of Michigan on a Navy ROTC scholarship and was also a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. While at U of M, he marched in the 1948 Rose Bowl Parade with the marching band. He later became a founding member and longtime board member of the U of M Alumni Band Association.
